Corps Commanders Conference: Proposed Operation in NWA Discussed

The Corps Commanders Conference decided to fortify the security of Pak Afghan border and showed apprehensions over increasing miscreants’ attacks on army and civilians from a cross border. The Chief of Army Staff, General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani chaired the meeting , which took review of the proposed operation in North Waziristan Agency, however no final decision was taken. Corps Commander Peshawar Lt.Gen. Khalid Rabbani gave the briefing about security situation at the western border as well as North and South Waziristan. The Corps Commanders also talked about the missing persons as they were briefed on the issue by the ISI.

The conference also took decision to resolve the matter of missing person in the light of instructions issued by Supreme Court. The mattes regarding to professional preparedness and abilities of Pak Army also came under discussion during the meeting and the commanders expressed satisfaction over it. It was a routine meeting that takes place on monthly basis. The sources said the Corps Commanders also held detailed discussion on war against terrorism and drone attacks by NATO forces on the territory of Pakistan and termed these attacks against the national sovereignty.

COAS Gen Kayani Visits Peshawar Garrison

Chief of Army Staff (COAS), General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani visited Headquarters of Peshawar Corps, today.

COAS was briefed about the ongoing operations against the terrorists as well as various projects aimed at rebuilding infrastructure, and help bring affected areas back to normalcy through education, and economic development. COAS expressed satisfaction over the progress of operations and stressed upon the need to ensure that collateral damage and civilian casualties are kept to a minimum.

Earlier, COAS laid a wreath on the Shuhada monument at Peshawar Cantt and also visited the injured soldiers under treatment at CMH Peshawar. He praised the courage and valour of the troops as well as sacrifices of civilians caught in the midst of active operations.

On arrival, COAS was received by Lieutenant General Khalid Rabbani, Commander Peshawar Corps. 

Corps Commander Peshawar Pays Rich Tributes To Martyrs

A special Shuhada Day ceremony was held at Yadgar-e-Shuhada Peshawar to commemorate the sacrifices of the heroes, who laid down their lives while safeguarding the frontiers of the country against the menace of terrorism.

Corps Commander, Lieutenant General Khalid Rabbani and Lieutenant Colonel Sameen Jan Baber (SJ) and Bar were the chief guest on the occasion, laid the wreath at Yadgar-i-Shuhada, says an ISPR press release on Monday.

Corps Commander while addressing on the occasion said that the defenders of Pakistan have withstood multifarious challenges and tests of time.

Backed by the people of Pakistan, its Armed Forces always rose to the occasion, be it guarding the frontiers in war, protecting the lives of people in various calamities, rendering services for nation building, purging the society of the menace of terrorism.

Pak Army has a tradition of looking after the families of these Shuhada and in this regard different welfare packages/ schemes have been initiated for the bereaved families.

Lieutenant Colonel Sameen Jan Baber, while speaking on the occasion, said that nation is proud of our heroes who have proved their mettle in the hour of need and world has recognised the courage and bravery of our soldiers.

The ceremony was attended by the large number of Shuhada families, political leadership, serving and retired civil and army officers, police, FC, members of civil society, students and teachers of colleges and universities.
