Soldier Dies in Dera Bugti Landmine Blast

QUETTA: A member of security forces was martryed while another sustained injuries in a landmine blast in the Maat Mumdrani area of Dera Bugti on Wednesday.

According to official sources, a pick-up of the security forces was busy in distributing supplies when it hit a landmine near Maat Mumdrani area.

As a result, one of the security officials died on the spot while another sustained serious injuries. Law enforcement agencies later cordoned off the area while the deceased and injured were shifted to the nearby hospital. The deceased was later identified as Rafiqullah.


Captain Among 9 Soldiers Martyred in Khyber IED Blast

KHYBER AGENCY – A remote-controlled bomb blast killed nine troops and wounded three others while two more people were killed in another incident on Thursday in Bara tehsil of Khyber Agency, sources said.

In the first incident, security forces vehicle hit an improvised explosive device (IED) planted by militants on roadside near Al-Haj Market in Bara, sources said. The forces convoy was on its way to Bara from Peshawar

Nine Frontier Corp (FC) personnel including a captain were killed on the spot and three were injured, sources said.

The deceased were identified as Capt Manan, Afzal, Tariq, Yousaf, Bahadar, Ali Badshah, Nawaz Gul, Kamran Ali and Khan Afzal. Three wounded, Nabi-ur-Rehman, Gushen Ali and Jamil Hussein were shifted to military hospital for medical aid. The vehicle of the forces was also destroyed in the attack.

The vehicles were on a routine patrol when attack happened, he added. Two militants have also been killed as the security forces targeted the miscreants after the IED blast near Al-Haj Market.

Frontier Corps spokesman Major Fazl said six security personnel were confirmed dead including the captain while four others were injured.The intelligence sources, however, said nine security personnel including Captain Manan Afzal had died in the blast.

Captain Fasih Babar embraced martydom while six soldiers got injured after an IED detonated in South Waziristan. Captain Fasih  was from 23 Cavalry. He got commission in Pakistan Military Academy’s 110 L/C). He will be buried with full military honours tomorrow after Jumma prayers at Army Graveyard, Lahore. He was son of Brigadier (R) Babar Amin (Former Commander 108 AD).
